@@N0N4M30 yes a haematoma can increase the risk of contracture. It it is only one sided then you may only need to have a capsulectomy on one side. Depending on how long your implants have been in, you could have a discussion about what happens to the other side. You may want to have the other implant changed but may not need a capsulectomy, at least not a total one.

it sounds a bit unusual that blood is coming from it. It is also unusual that it is painful, so it would be worth seeing your doctor for an opinion.

Hi Martin, we spend a lot of time in training learning to plan our incisions and minimising tissue trauma when closing the skin. A circular punch may leave small bumps compared to an elliptical incision when closed but will leave a smaller scar, so both are valid and hard to say if one is better.

​@Lord_Don the first thing is to get it looked at to make sure it is nothing sinister. Cysts can get bigger and smaller and they can get infected but they do not have to be removed, it is just that they can be a nuisance.

@@Lord_Don a lipoma is usually relatively soft as it is made up of fat, but they can be deep, so it may be hard to tell the consistency. A cyst feels firmer and is usually just under the skin. Good luck.

Hi there, no you don't normally need to have the capsule removed because seromas are usually short-lived and don't form a capsule, so you can usually sort them out with aspiration alone. It sounds like you are having particularly bad problems and if you end up with a chronic seroma, meaning it is going on for a long time, then it can form a capsule around it and you may need to surgically remove this, but this is only rarely required. Re-siting the belly button is an integral part of doing a full tummy tuck. You have to cut around the stalk of thee belly button and let it drop in. It could be a minor correction under local anaesthetic which might be a few thousand pounds or it could be a full breast lift which would be 5-10 thousand pounds. It is not uncommon for things to need corrections and I would not be too hard on your surgeon as they will have a vested interest to sort it out for you. JJ

hard to say without seeing them. As a rule it takes a year or more for a scar to fully mature, so if it is less than a year, it may well improve. If you have got the sun on the scar while it is healing that has caused the tanning, then this may be permanent, so time will tell. If it is permanent, you could always have the scar revised. JJ

Ideally you should stop 6 weeks before if you can because the little hairs in your windpipe will have been paralysed while you are smoking and they start to come back to life when you stop smoking. This means that you start to clear secretions in your lungs and you start coughing stuff up. This is not ideal if you are having a big operation like a tummy tuck or breast lift and so you need to give it time for your lungs to start to recover. JJ
